Bringing families Home for Dinner

At Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan: Saskatoon House, our Home for Dinner program invites families to gather around the table Tuesday through Thursday evenings.

We welcome volunteer groups to join us in preparing and sharing wholesome, nutritious meals that help families feel cared for, supported, and at home. By participating, volunteers become ambassadors of Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan, working alongside our team to create a warm, welcoming environment where families can pause, recharge, and enjoy a comforting meal together.

We are deeply grateful for every individual who contributes their time, energy, and care to make Home for Dinner possible.

Volunteering is Easy!

Gather a team of up to six volunteers (ages 16+), then select a date and menu during the booking process.

On the day of your shift, a staff member or volunteer host supports your group as you prepare a healthy meal in the House’s well-equipped kitchen. Supper is served 5:30–6:30 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday.

After serving, your group enjoys the meal together before cleaning up, with any remaining food made available in the Community Pantry for families returning from the hospital.

You can cater a meal to the Saskatoon House and the Prince Albert Family Room. Ronald McDonald House staff and volunteers would be happy to support your meal by serving the families on your behalf. Contact foodprograms@ronaldmcdonaldhousesk.ca to learn more.

You will receive a confirmation email with all the details you need about your upcoming Home For Dinner experience including arrival time, tour details, what to wear & more! Please note that all menus are confirmed with our in House staff to ensure we provide balanced meals that honor cultural and dietary needs of our ever changing guest families within our program sites. If you have a specific menu your group would like to consider, please email foodprograms@ronaldmcdonaldhousesk.ca a minimum of two weeks prior to your dinner date.

Join Our Baking Program

Baking for Ronald McDonald House is a simple act with real impact. The smell of fresh cookies and availability of homemade treats offers families a small but powerful sense of comfort and normalcy during a difficult time, whether it’s a quick snack between hospital visits or a quiet moment with a warm treat and coffee.

Baking opportunities are available weekly or as a group team-building activity, and your participation helps keep the program running.

What families and donors are saying...

We have loved the [Home for Dinner program]. It is one less thing after a long day that we have to think about planning. Being able to go downstairs and have a meal provided for free as well is a huge help in our situation, [on top of the] mental drain of taking care of a sick child. We are super grateful for the support from staff and volunteers that are involved in this program.”

– Past guest family

My team with Essence Recruitment volunteered for the Home for Dinner experience, and it was so much fun! This is a great experience if you are interested in giving back in a rewarding and meaningful way. The guests were so kind and it was wonderful meeting with everybody. It was wonderful seeing the families eat together, joke, and laugh. The time commitment was not too long, and we were provided with everything we needed.”

– Essence Recruitment

…we feel so blessed that this facility and these services are available to families. We recognize that being a parent is hard. Being a parent with a sick child is a whole different level of hard. We believe the Ronald McDonald House makes this “hard” a little softer. This program is great for our group… who want to give back in a way that nourishes our souls as much as the ones we are providing a meal for.”

– Past volunteer

“We felt that coming together as a team to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House was very impactful, especially around the holiday season. We knew that what we were baking would directly impact and support the families who were staying at the house. It was also great to get a tour of the home, so we could get a better idea of how the Ronald McDonald House helps families.”
