Qualifications:
- Ability to deal with the public in a warm and friendly manner
- Comfortable in the kitchen
- Enjoy cooking and baking
- Initiative – Comfortable working independently and solving problems
- Willing to share your time and energy
- Possess qualities of friendliness, dependability, tact and flexibility
- Willingness to take a Food Safe Course (provided through Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan)
- Able to pass a background check
- Light lifting required
Responsibilities:
- Duties included but not limited to:
- Commit to a weekly schedule
- Adhere to all Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan Protocols, Procedures & Policies
- Check in at the Volunteer Gathering Place at the beginning of your shift to check for important updates and information
- Always wear your nametag for every shift
- Become familiar with Better Impact volunteer database, and use for cancelations or filling shifts
- Follow all Food Safe Course guidelines
- Assist Food Program staff with cooking and baking in large amounts
- Ensure proper storage of cooked and prepped food are in fridges for Food Programs staff to be used the following day
- Label stored food with date, content and what it will be used for.
- Stamp the date on the bags going out for delivery
- Help place stickers on the paper bags
- Ensure the kitchen area is clean, tidy, adequately stocked, properly cleaned and sanitized when lunch preparation is complete
- Advise the Family Service & Programs Associate if ingredients are running low
Training & Support:
- General orientation and training will be provided
- Role specific training will be provided
- Continuing training and learning opportunities will be offered to all volunteers
Time Commitment:
- 1 weekly shift of 3 hours per week for a commitment of 8 months to a year
