General Maintenance Volunteer

As a member of the General Maintenance Team, you play a significant role in creating a warm, welcoming and comfortable environment for families who stay at Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan. Under the direction of the Facility Coordinator, you will assist with projects, minor repairs and touch-ups that are important to make the families safe and comfortable. We value teamwork and collaboration, and we are grateful that you are a part of the Ronald McDonald House SK Regina team.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to get your hands dirty 
  • Dependable – must be able to commit to a regular schedule 
  • Independent – we will train and resource you, but most of your work will happen independently of Staff 
  • Physically capable – some of the work can be physically demanding 
  • Skilled in work safe practices 
  • A friendly and enthusiastic demeanor 

Responsibilities:

  • Complete maintenance tasks as directed by the Facility Coordinator 
  • Tasks will include but are not limited to: 
    • Repair and maintain small kitchen appliances as needed 
    • light carpentry/fix-it projects 
    • assess and change light bulbs as needed 
    • hanging of décor/pictures in the House 
    • assist with maintenance work as required by the House Services Team 
    • Other duties as they come up and as assigned by Facility Manager 
  • Communicate your availability to the Facility Manager and commit to a regular schedule as well as the possibility of monthly projects/items 
  • Communicate House or work issues with Facility Manager and complete check list. 
  • Clean up after each work session 
  • Be welcoming and friendly to all guests of Ronald McDonald House SK 
  • Adhere to all Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan Protocols, Procedures & Policies 
  • Check in at the Volunteer Gathering Place at the beginning of your shift to check for important updates and information 
  • Always wear your nametag for every shift 
  • Become familiar with Better Impact volunteer database, and use it for cancelations or filling shifts 

Training & Support:

  • General orientation and training will be provided  
  • Role specific training will be provided 
  • Continuing training and learning opportunities will be offered to all volunteers  

Time Commitment:

  • 1 shift per week for a commitment of 8 months to a year 
  • Shift times vary from 2 – 4 hours
